Well duh! Goodness Guru is constantly in search of the Nutritious and Delicious and this is nothing less. What the catch? Well this is a seasonal dish; it needs top quality creamy ripe Avocado Pears. They can’t be half ripe and picked too soon and they can’t be that brown fibrous type sorry. Lucky for us in the sub-tropical regions of South Africa it is Avo Season Yeehah! Let the goodness roll.
Avocados are 100% cholesterol-free. They contribute great vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients; and just one serving of the superfood offers eight percent of the daily value of fiber—a nutrient which provides a feeling of fullness and has also been found to potentially reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Avos have the least amount of sugar per serving of any fruit – yes they are a fruit not a vegetable despite their relative savouriness. They act as a “nutrient booster” by helping the body to better absorb fat-soluble nutrients. They count as a healthy fat but remember a little goes a long way so be sure to share this mousse with friends and family.
- flesh of 2 ripe Avocados (about 240g)
- 40g good quality cocoa powder or even better Raw Cacao if you can get it
- 1/3 cup Coconut Milk
- A generous pinch of sea or dessert salt
- pinch stevia OR 2-6 tbsp sweetener of choice (raw honey, maple syrup or agave all work well depending on how sweet you like it – my personal choice is 2 Tbsp raw honey as I love the bitterness of chocolate)
- Flavouring of choice -1 tsp pure vanilla extract, Zest of 1 orange (drink the juice you need the vitamin C;)), handful of finely chopped mint leaves works well if you’re sensitive to the subtle avo flavour
